The Eight Dos of Heartburn

There are plenty of things that you need to avoid doing if you want to stop having frequent bouts of heartburn. Don't be overweight, don't eat within 2-4 hours of going to bed, don't eat spicy foods, don't consume chocolate, don't smoke, don't wear tight-fitting clothing, don't take pain killers, and don't overeat, to name a few. These instructions make it sound like you can't possibly have a good life if you sometimes face bouts with heartburn. You should be aware that there are quite a few positive things that you can do to help get rid of heartburn.

Eating more yogurt is definitely a good thing. People who eat yogurt on a fairly regular basis will stop experience heartburn attacks so often. If you're already having pain, the yogurt should soothe it quickly.

DO make a practice of eating plenty of low-fat foods. Suitable low-fat foods include fruits, vegetables, and lean meats. You should definitely stop eating as much fried foods and stop seasoning meals with too much butter.

Drinking plenty of water is also a must. Humans are supposed to drink plenty of water every day since our bodies are made up of so much water. Water also helps when it comes to diluting potentially harmful stomach acid. Quenching your thirst with water and staying hydrated will also help you cut down on the drinking other beverages, such as coffee, soda.

Experiencing heartburn every once in a while isn't much of a big deal, but if you experience bouts a few times each and every week, then it's in your best interests to consult a doctor. A doctor will be able to decide the type of treatment you should be use as well as how heartburn medications will react with any other drugs you are taking.

There is an assortment of natural heartburn remedies that you can try. Some of the best homemade remedies for dealing with heartburn including drinking peppermint tea, water with two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar, or a mixture of water, lemon juice, and honey.

During the day, eat smaller meals at one time instead of eating large dinners and lunches. If you eat more smaller meals, then you won't have to worry about your stomach getting too full.

Do what you can to avoid gaining weight. If you pack on pounds around your abdomen, they can put pressure on your stomach and excacerbate the problem.
